Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about downloading TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube videos with ReelDL.

General

Is ReelDL really free?

Yes. There is no subscription, no per-download fee, and no hidden paywall for standard resolutions. The site is supported by display advertising rather than user payments.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Paste a link and download — there's no signup, login, or email required at any step.

Does ReelDL work on mobile?

Yes, the site is fully responsive and works in any mobile browser on iOS and Android — no app installation needed.

TikTok

Will the downloaded video have a watermark?

No. ReelDL retrieves the source file directly from TikTok's delivery servers, which is the version without the watermark overlay that TikTok's own app adds during its save feature.

Can I download private TikTok videos?

No. Only videos from public accounts can be retrieved by any third-party tool, including ReelDL.

Instagram

Can I download Reels from private accounts?

No. Instagram's privacy settings are enforced server-side, so private content cannot be accessed by any external tool without logging into that account directly.

What quality will I get?

ReelDL downloads the original file Instagram stores for that Reel, typically 720p–1080p depending on the original upload.

YouTube

What's the maximum resolution available?

Up to 1080p for most videos, depending on what resolutions the original upload was encoded in.

Can I extract just the audio as MP3?

Yes. Select the MP3 audio option after pasting a YouTube link to get an audio-only file.

Does it work with YouTube Shorts?

Yes, Shorts links (youtube.com/shorts/... or youtu.be/...) work the same way as standard video links.

Troubleshooting

My download isn't starting. What should I check first?

Confirm the account/video is public, the link was copied using the platform's native "Copy Link" share option (not a shortened third-party redirect), and that the content hasn't been deleted since you copied the link.

The file downloaded but won't play.

This is rare and usually indicates an interrupted download. Try downloading again, and confirm your device has enough free storage for the file size shown.
